Christine Vanderkaap was classically trained at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative art where she received an intensive drawing foundation. She likes to use that knowledge in multiple drawing mediums, effortlessly changing between the strictness of pen and ink to the forgiving, fluidity of charcoal.
Another of Christine’s real passions is animal rescue and she likes to involve wild and domesticated animals into her work where possible. In her spare time she works externally for Southern California Pomeranian Rescue (SoCalPomRescue) and raises awareness for the rescue of senior and special needs animals like her beloved little pom Winkie.
Christine finished studying in 2015 so thought it apt to display a number of studies in both charcoal and ink. She claims to love studying and hopes to continue to learn and experiment with art and different mediums. ‘I never want to stop learning’.
I hope you enjoy Christine’s work and will follow her in her growth and progression as a professional artist. There’s only big things to come.
